Updating Your Bathroom With A Wood Medicine Cabinet

Updating a bathroom in your home does not have to cost an arm and a leg. You can easily make a few minor changes which will give this room a whole new look. One great place to start is with your medicine cabinet. Choose a new one that reflects what you want your bathroom to look like.

A wood medicine cabinet is always a hit as there are many things you can do to reflect your tastes. Whether you paint or stain it, choose etched doors or plain ones, or find one with distinctive styling, your guests will be sure to notice the new look.

When you enter a bathroom, the medicine cabinet is the first thing you notice, as it is mounted at eye level. Make sure your bathroom medicine cabinet is one of which you can be proud.

When choosing your wooden medicine cabinet, the first decision you will need to make is whether you want a recessed cabinet or one that mounts on the wall. Recessed models may be smaller, as they are mounted between wall studs, yet flush mount ones do take up more space.

Consider the overall size of your bathroom before choosing either type. A hybrid cabinet may work for you also, as it is partially recessed yet sits out a few inches like a flush mounted cabinet.

Style is of major importance when choosing wood medicine cabinets. Mirrored doors can make a small bathroom look larger, and corner cabinets are great in bathrooms with minimal space. Etchings and decorative accents draw attention to your bathroom medicine cabinet, and can help detract from a feature that you dislike in your bathroom.

To add elegance to your bathroom choose a cabinet that features an arched top. On the other hand, if you like your decor to stand out in a crowd, look for an unusually shaped cabinet. Wooden medicine cabinets exist that exactly reflect your personality.

Whenever you shop for home furnishings like a wood medicine cabinet, look for other accessories that can complement your decor. Choose a matching light switch cover and toilet paper holder. Small changes such as this in your bathroom can make it look like a whole new room.

You don't have to do a major remodel to achieve a whole new look. It's easier than you think. Just by remembering that the focal point of any bathroom is the medicine cabinet, you can open up an endless range of possibilities. Consider them all.

Hester - just type 'oval wood medicine cabinet' into the Google search bar - without the quotes. There are a whole lot of webpages listed. I found an oval cabinet made of real wood for only $140.

Does anyone know where I can get an oval medicine cabinet that's made of wood? All I can seem to find on the internet are oval cabinets that look like wood, but are really painted metal.

By Alana Tanner
It's the last major room in our house that needs an update. The main upstairs bathroom, the primary for the entire house. It's not really a master bath since it's down the hall from the main bedroom, but it does have the only bathtub and is definitely the biggest bathroom we have.
